SSU detains enemy mole in AFU guiding russian strikes at petrol stations in Poltava region
The SSU Military Counterintelligence, in cooperation with the Commander-in-Chief, has exposed another agent of the russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The perpetrator was guiding russian missile and drone attacks on the Poltava region.
It has been established that the enemy had identified local petrol stations as primary targets for the spotter. The agent was also tasked with gathering intelligence on the bases and redeployments of the Defence Forces in central Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that the strikes were directed by a conscript assigned to the technical support platoon of a local military unit.
The man came to the GRU’s attention when he posted anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channel chat rooms.
After the recruitment, the asset walked around the ‘target’ areas in his free time to provide the enemy with up-to-date photographs and geolocations of local petrol stations.
The agent also leaked the location of his military unit to his handler.
The SSU detained the mole at his place of service. During a search, a mobile phone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was found.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out jointly with the investigators of the SSU Poltava Office under the procedural supervision of the Poltava Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
