SSU detains GRU moles at defense plant in Mykolaiv region
The SSU Counterintelligence, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Minister of Defence, has exposed another enemy infiltration into Ukraine’s military industrial complex.
As a result of the operation in Mykolaiv region, a laboratory assistant and a mechanic at a defence plant, who were working for russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’), have been detained.
The agents acted separately from each other and passed the geolocations of production workshops and information on the facility’s security to the occupiers.
The GRU tried to determine through their moles the existence and types of defence orders carried out by the enterprise.
The assets also reported to their handler on the consequences of combined missile and drone attacks on the port city and tracked the deployment of Ukrainian troops.
The Security Service uncovered the enemy’s intelligence activities and detained both perpetrators during their work shifts.
According to the investigation, both individuals came to the GRU’s attention when they posted anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.
Smartphones containing media files and coordinates of defence facilities targeted by russian airstrikes were seized from the suspects during searches.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the detainees of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The aggressor’s accomplices are in custody without bail and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
