Kyiv resident apprehended by SSU for disclosing locations and operation of Ukraine’s air defence forces during russian air attacks
The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered another case of unauthorised dissemination of information on the deployment and combat operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A resident of Kyiv has been detained for posting videos on social media showing air defence operations in the capital.
Living on the top floor of a high-rise apartment building, the man filmed the location of Ukrainian air defence forces shooting down russian missiles and drones.
He then posted the recorded footage in a group chat on Telegram and on his company’s Instagram page, which has over 13,000 followers.
This allowed the enemy to use the disclosed geolocations of the Defence Forces to prepare new strikes on Kyiv.
A forensic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed the fact of the suspect’s illegal actions.
A smartphone with evidence of unauthorised filming and dissemination of information was seized during the search.
Security Service investigators have notified the perpetrator of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the location of the AFU or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).
The investigation is ongoing. The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison.
The Security Service reiterates that filming or publishing photos and videos of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, as well as the aftermath of russian shelling, is strictly prohibited.
Disseminating such information is considered adjusting enemy fire and is punishable under the law.
The operational and investigative actions were carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
