SSU detains FSB agent – medic who adjusted russian strikes on southern Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service in Kherson. He turned out to be a 26-year-old male nurse at a city hospital who had been recruited by the enemy and was adjusting russian air strikes on the city and its suburbs.

The occupiers’ main targets were backup command posts, logistics depots, air defense positions and Ukrainian military checkpoints.

The aggressor also hoped to obtain from the agent the coordinates of the defensive lines on the approaches to the city, along which they planned combined strikes with kamikaze drones and heavy aerial bombs.

According to the investigation, the traitor collected intelligence during his commutes to and from work.

As a passenger on a bus, he used his phone camera to photograph the locations of Ukrainian defenders.

Then, right at his workplace in a medical facility, he marked the coordinates of military objects on Google Maps and reported to the FSB via a messenger app.

The SSU identified the perpetrator, documented his intelligence activities, and took action to protect the positions of the Defence Forces.

At the final stage of the special operation, the suspect was apprehended.

The medic was recruited by russia through his former neighbour, who, after the liberation of Kherson, left for russia and began cooperating with the FSB.

During the searches, a smartphone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.

The special operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
