SSU detains Bucha resident, who helped ruscists during occupation and wanted to ‘conceal’ his crimes by joining Ukrainian volunteer battalion (video)
The SSU detained an enemy accomplice who assisted the invaders during the temporary occupation of Kyiv region.
This traitor participated in ruscists’ punitive raids in Bucha and helped occupiers identify and physically eliminate members of the resistance movement.
At his own initiative, the individual offered to assist russians, who then gave him firearms, russian military uniform and ‘instructions’ on further actions against Ukrainian defenders.
It was established that, riding a russian APC together with ruscists, the defector had broken into his friend’s the house and conducted an illegal search, looking for fighters of Territorial Defence.
In case Kyiv region was captured, the man planned to join the occupation administration and continue repressions against Ukrainians.
After the liberation of Bucha, the collaborator remained in the area and tried to hide his crimes. To do this, he joined the volunteer formation of the local territorial community. There, the man hoped to evade justice posing as a defender.
According to the investigation, in the future he planned to restore his ties with occupiers to give them intelligence on deployment and movement of Ukrainian troops in the region.
However, the SSU exposed the criminal.
SSU investigators notified the detained traitor of suspicion of collaboration (Article 111-1.7 of the CCU). Court chose custody as a measure of restraint.
The crime is punishable by up to 15 years of imprisonment.
The SSU carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
