SSU detains another russian informant who guided enemy artillery at Ukrainian combat positions

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in eastern Ukraine, the SSU detained another informant of a reconnaissance unit of the russian occupation army.

The enemy scout collected intelligence on deployment and movement of the Ukrainian Defence Forces in Donetsk oblast.

His main mission was to reconnoitre locations of the AFU units in Avdiivka sector.

The occupiers used this agent’s intelligence to shell Ukrainian combat positions from artillery.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the informant during his communication session with the handler.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice is a resident of Myrnohrad, who had previously served in artillery units and had the necessary skills and knowledge.

The man came to the attention of russian military intelligence because of his activity in the banned social media, where he posted pro-kremlin messages.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, a serviceman of the russian reconnaissance unit used Odnoklassniki social network to engage the individual in collecting intelligence for the russian troops.

In addition to adjusting enemy fire, the informant, at his own initiative, collected data on movement of troops, location of civilian and infrastructure facilities near enemy targets, and recommended what to target.

During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found mobile phones with evidence of his communication with the aggressor.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion under the Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
