SSU detains family of collaborators in Kherson region for helping russia hold sham referendum in 2022
The SSU has detained another two organizers of russia’s pseudo-referendum, which took place during the temporary occupation of the right-bank part of Kherson oblast in 2022.
The detained suspects are residents of Beryslav district: a mother and daughter who, after the area was captured, supported russian invaders and offered them their assistance in the war against Ukraine.
Both collaborators were ‘appointed’ to the occupation ‘election commission’ in one of the villages.
There, they made door-to-door visits to residents and collected ‘votes in favour of the accession’ of Kherson oblast to russia.
In case people refused to put the ‘required’ mark in the fake ballot, the enemy accomplices threatened them with imprisonment in a russian torture chamber.
To intimidate the local population, the collaborators were accompanied by armed russian militants.
Later, the women took part in falsifying the ‘results’ of the fake voting, rigging it in kremlin’s favour.
After the village was liberated, the traitors remained in the area and hoped no one would ‘remember’ them. However, the SSU identified both collaborators, found and detained them.
Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the detained individuals of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 111-1.5 of the CCU.
The suspects are in custody. The investigation is underway.
The SSU Kherson Office carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office and Beryslav District Prosecutor’s Office.
