Odesa oblast: SSU detains russian agent who collected intelligence on Ukrainian air defence positions near Black Sea
In the course of counter-sabotage efforts in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa region, the SSU exposed another FSB agent.
The enemy informant was gathering information on deployment and armament of the AFU in the southern region.
Primarily, the individual was trying to identify combat positions of Ukrainian air defence along the Black Sea coast.
The russian agent also reported on the consequences of the missile attacks on critical infrastructure, including the bridge across the Dniester Estuary.
The occupiers needed the intelligence to adjust their repeated air attacks on Ukrainian targets.
The SSU detained the enemy accomplice on his attempt to pass classified information on the defence of the sea coast to the aggressor.
The agent is a local resident with a criminal record, whom the FSB involved in covert cooperation after start of the full-scale invasion.
The individual was recruited remotely - through his brother, who is serving in the russian occupation troops.
After recruitment, the informant was in direct contact with an FSB officer.
The enemy accomplice ‘reported’ on the assignments performed and sent him photos and video footage of Ukrainian targets.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the law enforcement found mobile phones and computer equipment that the agent used to communicate with the aggressor.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).
The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.
The SSU Odesa Office is conducting the pre-trial investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Counter-sabotage measures were carried out by the SSU Counterintelligence Department jointly with the SSU Odesa Office and units of the National Police, the State Border Guard Service and the National Guard.
