SSU detains FSB informant in Sumy region for ‘leaking’ data to enemy on defence of Ukraine’s northern borders

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in Sumy oblast, the SSU exposed another enemy informant.

The suspect is a resident of the border town of Hlukhiv. She provided the FSB with information on locations, approximate strength and available weapons of the Armed Forces units involved in the defence of Ukraine’s northern borders.

The woman also passed intelligence on consequences of russian shelling, e.g. coordinates of destroyed local infrastructure buildings, to the aggressor’s special service.

The invaders needed this ‘input’ to prepare and adjust strikes with artillery, mortars and kamikaze drones.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the offender on her attempt to transmit data to the FSB.

According to the investigation, the suspect maintained communication with the occupiers through her relative, a russian citizen who lives in russia and has been cooperating with the FSB for a long time.

During the search at the detainee’s home, the SSU found computer equipment and mobile phones that she used to take photos of Ukrainian targets and send data to russia.

SSU investigators have served the enemy informant a notice of suspicion.

The court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect, who is now facing up to 8 years of imprisonment.

The SSU Sumy Office conducted the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
