SSU detains minor – enemy agent who guided strikes on Kharkiv region

The SSU Military Counterintelligence has detained another enemy agent in the Kharkiv region. He is a 16-year-old student at a local school who had been recruited by the enemy and was guiding russian airstrikes on the Chuhuiv and Lozova districts of the frontline region.

As the investigation established, the student came to the attention of russian intelligence operatives while seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.

In one of the chats, they offered the young man cooperation in exchange for adjusting missile, bomb, and drone strikes on the region.

After the recruitment, he was given the task of identifying Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems and radars, against which the russians were preparing attacks.

To do this, the agent rode around the area on his moped to photograph, film, and mark the locations of Ukrainian air defence systems on Google Maps.

It was established that when the agent was unable to photograph potential ‘targets’, he recorded voice messages for his russian handler with detailed descriptions of the sites.

To maintain secrecy, the asset communicated with the russian intelligence using codes. Specifically, their conversations began with code words that had been prearranged for the young agent.

His next task was to install a concealed phone camera with remote access for the russian intelligence on a major highway.

In this way, the adversary hoped to track the time and approximate number of Ukrainian armoured convoys moving toward the front lines.

The SSU identified the underage agent at an early stage, documented his crimes, and caught him red-handed while he was photographing the Defence Forces’ military equipment.

During the detention, a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy was seized from the suspect.

SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Kharkiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
