SSU detains minor preparing double terrorist attack in Poltava region on russia’s behalf
The SSU Counterintelligence has prevented new terrorist attacks in Poltava region. Thanks to preemptive actions, an enemy agent – a teenager preparing two explosions in Kremenchuk – has been detained.
The perpetrator planted two remote-activated improvised explosive devices near a local police station.
The ruscists were supposed to detonate one of the devices on the night of April 17 of this year, and after emergency services arrived at the scene, they planned to activate the second bomb planted nearby.
The SSU uncovered the enemy’s plot and quickly neutralised the explosives at the site of the planned attack.
The agent was apprehended after he planted the IED, thereby preventing any casualties.
As the investigation established, russia’s task was carried out by a 17-year-old student at a local high school, who came to the occupiers’ attention while seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.
After recruitment, he purchased components for two explosive devices according to the enemy’s instructions and assembled them himself in a rented garage. He received the funds for all of this from his handler in russia.
After agreeing on the site for the attack with him, the asset went there at night to plant the explosive devices.
During searches, the remaining components for the explosive devices and communication devices containing evidence of contacts with russian intelligence were seized from the suspect.
SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 15.2 and 258.1 of the CCU (completed attempt to commit a terrorist act).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Poltava region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
