The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an official of one of the State Reserve Grain Bases, who created conditions for the theft of more than a thousand tons of state grain reserves. He engaged the representatives of the criminal cycles of Russia in the deal.

Allegedly, the official tried to establish a scheme for the illegal sale of state grain reserves to affiliated commercial structures. To do this, the persons forged documents on the alleged shipment of wheat for storage in the warehouses of Grain Bases.

The law enforcement officers detained the official and his accomplice, a Russian citizen, while receiving UAH 1,000,000 (USD 36,000) for the illegal sale of 1,300 tons of wheat for UAH 8,000,000 (USD 280,000).

The issue of serving notices of suspicion to the involved persons of fraud and forgery in office and choosing a preventive measure is being decided now.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Investigation Directorate of the National Police.
