SSU detains enemy accomplice who spied on AFU and guarded russian checkpoints during Kharkiv battle

The SSU and the National Police have apprehended a resident of Kharkiv region who had aided the enemy.

The suspect tried to flee to the temporarily occupied territories in order to evade prosecution, however the SSU prevented his escape.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a resident of Kharkiv oblast who collaborated with the aggressor during the battle for the city.

At that time, the traitor voluntarily walked in the frontline area and recorded the locations of the AFU personnel and military equipment.

He passed all the collected intelligence to the command of the russian occupying forces fighting near Izium.

After capturing part of the region, the invaders offered the man to stand guard at russian checkpoints. There, he helped the enemy to identify members of the resistance movement.

The ‘guard’ was given an AK-74 rifle with ammunition and a russian military uniform.

Having information about Ukrainian patriots from his fellow villagers, he betrayed them to the invaders when they stopped cars at the checkpoints.

Based on the evidence, the detainee has been notified of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111-2.1 (aiding the aggressor state);
  • 114-2.2 (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, transfer of weapons, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces 12 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Izium District Prosecutor’s Office.
