SSU detains enemy accomplice who ‘guided’ russian missiles at Rivne

In the course of counter-subversive activities in the north-west of Ukraine, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed an agent of russia’s special services. The spy passed to the enemy information on location and movement of the Defence Forces of Ukraine in the region.

The enemy accomplice also collected data on location of critical infrastructure facilities in Rivne and called on russia to launch a missile strike on the city.

The SSU detained the suspect in Rivne when he attempted to pass intelligence to russians.

According to the investigation, the detainee is a local, who, after russia started its full-scale invasion, created his own Telegram channel, where he published posts in support of the invaders and justified their crimes.

The traitor also repeatedly expressed his pro-kremlin views among others. In this way, he tried to find ‘like-minded people’ to conduct subversive activities against Ukraine.

To collect information, the offender carried out visual surveillance of the facilities and then transmitted their coordinates to the enemy using the mentioned Telegram channel.

During the searches of the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone with evidence of ‘encrypted’ correspondence with the enemy as well as unregistered ammunition for firearms.

The traitor was taken into custody and notified of suspicion of crimes under the Articles of the CCU:

  • 114-2.2 (dissemination of information on transfer, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other armed formations of Ukraine);
  • 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives);
  • 436-2.3 (justifying, recognizing as lawful, denying russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The SSU Office in Rivne region carried out the special operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
