The SBU exposed and documented a corrupt head of a united territorial community of Kyiv region. The official jointly with a deputy of the district council and a mediator tried to fraudulently obtain UAH 2.6 m. (USD 92,857).

During the pre-trial investigation, SBU officers established that the officials illegally received 1.5 hectares of land belonging to the unit fund. For bribe, they tried to transfer these land plots to private ownership.

Law enforcement officers detained all the offenders immediately after receiving UAH 800,000 (USD 28,571). Earlier, the SBU documented the receipt of another UAH 280,000 (USD 10,000).

All the defendants received suspicion notices of fraud committed in respect of an especially gross amount, or by an organized group.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and Kyiv region jointly with investigators of the Main National Police Department in Kyiv region, under the supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor's Office.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proved through a legal procedure and established by a court conviction.
