SSU detains official from Odesa region military unit on attempt to profit from AFU ration packs
The SSU Military Counterintelligence has dismantled yet another criminal scheme involving government procurement for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result, the head of a food warehouse at one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ supply centres has been detained on bribery charges.
According to the investigation, the official demanded money from the head of a private company that supplied army ration packs to the Ukrainian military.
It was established that in exchange for a 100,000-Hryvnia bribe, he promised not to create artificial obstacles during the receipt and shipment of daily field rations to the military unit’s food depots.
The SSU documented the suspect’s crimes and caught him red-handed after he received the illicit benefit.
During a search of his car, cash received as the bribe was found.
The official has been notified of his status as a suspect under Article 368.3 of the CCU (receipt of an unlawful benefit by a public official, combined with extortion).
He has been placed in custody. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is conducted in cooperation with investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
