SSU detains Ukrzaliznytsia official who passed information on military echelons to FSB through her husband, enemy militant

The SSU has exposed the chief accountant of one of the branches of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC [Ukrainian railways] in Poltava region on cooperation with the FSB. The agent’s ‘liaison’ was her husband, a militant of russian occupation groupings fighting against Ukraine on the eastern front.

According to the investigation, the data she provided to the occupiers included the time, directions and specifics of the cargo of military echelons moving by rail in the region.

The aggressor was most interested in the trains of the Defense Forces that transport heavy armored vehicles, artillery and ammunition to the front line.

To obtain intelligence, the traitor used official documents she worked with as the chief accountant at the office. She also elicited some information from her colleagues.

The agent passed the information to the FSB first through her husband, who is fighting for the ruscists in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, and then she was put in direct contact with her russian handler.

The SSU Counterintelligence documented the crimes and detained her at her home in Poltava. Action was taken to protect the routes of the Defense Forces echelons.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator had lived in Horlivka, Donetsk region, until 2014, but moved to Poltava after the city was seized.

She came to the attention of the FSB in the spring of 2024 because of her husband, who remained in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region and joined the russian military groups.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law);
  • 436-2.1, 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The suspect is in custody without the right to be released on bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

It is also planned to serve a notice of suspicion in absentia to her husband, who is currently fighting against Ukrainian defenders on the eastern front.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Poltava Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
