SSU detains russian accomplice who helped ruscists ‘reconfigure’ seized plant during occupation of Kherson

In Kherson, the SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy accomplice who was hiding from justice. The suspect is an employee of a local plant who, after the enterprise was seized at the beginning of the full-scale war, helped the ruscists restore its operations for the benefit of the russian federation.

The investigation established that the suspect voluntarily collaborated with the enemy during the temporary occupation of the port city.

In August 2022, he was appointed head of a ‘мanufacturing section’ at the plant, which had been seized at the time and which the russian federation planned to use to support the needs of its armed groups.

While serving in this ‘position’, the perpetrator recruited like-minded individuals for subsequent employment at the seized enterprise.

To this end, the suspect attempted to persuade his acquaintances and former colleagues to collaborate with the enemy.

In addition, he was involved in restoring the plant’s production facilities to fulfill industrial orders for the ruscists.

It has been established that the enemy accomplice repaired technological equipment and conducted an inventory of the plant’s assets for their transfer to the balance sheet of the occupation administration of the facility.

After the liberation of Kherson, the suspect remained in the regional center but moved in with his daughter. In this way, he attempted to ‘lay low’, hoping to evade justice.

The Security Service of Ukraine established his whereabouts and detained him. During searches, officers seized mobile phones containing evidence of his contacts with the ruscists, as well as money he had received while working for the enemy.

SSU investigators served him with a notice of suspicion under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state).

The perpetrator is being held in custody. He faces up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by SSU officers in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region.
