SSU detains railway employee for passing Defence Forces military equipment locations in Sloviansk to enemy
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another enemy informant in Donetsk oblast. He is a 33-year-old employee of the regional branch of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways].
The investigation established that the traitor was tracking the locations of heavy military equipment of the Defence Forces for the enemy. The aggressor state planned to conduct missile and bomb strikes against these targets.
To identify the coordinates, the perpetrator walked in the villages near the frontline during his free time, recording the locations of Ukrainian troops and military equipment.
He stored the collected information on his smartphone and passed it to an acquaintance – a ‘liaison’ of the russian intelligence services.
The SSU uncovered the enemy informant, documented his crime, and detained him.
Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces, which russia’s accomplice had reconnoitered.
A mobile phone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized from the suspect during the search.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
