SSU detains ‘right-hand man’ of russian oligarch who exported titanium from Ukraine for Kalibr missiles
In Dnipro, the SSU detained a russian citizen Alexander Fedoseev, a close associate of the sanctioned billionaire Mikhail Shelkov.
These individuals organized a scheme to smuggle titanium raw material from Ukraine to russia. There, it was used in the military-industrial complex, including for production of Kalibr missiles, MiG-35 and Su-35 combat aircraft, and Ka-52 helicopters.
The official position of the detained russian is an advisor to the CEO of the VSMPO-AVISMA metallurgical corporation, owned by the russian billionaire.
It was through this corporation that Shelkov arranged the supply of minerals to russia from the deposits of the controlled by him Demurinsky Mining and Processing Plant in Dnipropetrovsk region.
On his instructions, Fedoseev arrived in Ukraine before February 24, 2022, to control this illegal business.
According to the available data, the organizers of the scheme transported to russia almost 11 tons of minerals worth a total of almost USD 2 mln.
The SSU documented the crime and acted to hold the organizers to account.
Fedoseev was a fugitive from justice, but the SSU identified his location and detained him.
During the search, the SSU found a russian passport and documents with evidence of the unlawful activity.
Earlier, SSU investigators notified Shelkov and Fedoseev of suspicion under Article 110-2.3 of the CCU (financing actions committed with the purpose of forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine).
The court has chosen custody as a measure of restraint for Fedoseev. The offender is facing up to 8 years in prison.
The efforts to bring all those involved in the scheme to justice are underway.
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
