SSU detains recidivist, FSB sleeper agent, who spied on Pokrovsk defenders
In Donetsk region, the Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service. He adjusted the aggressor’s missile, bomb and artillery strikes on the locations of the Defense Forces in the hottest frontline area – Pokrovsk direction.
The enemy’s targets were the sites of large concentration of Ukrainian military personnel and equipment.
To obtain the coordinates for strikes, the FSB used its sleeper agent – a 39-year-old repeat offender who had twice served a prison sentence for robbery.
During his first term in the colony in the temporarily occupied Makiivka, he was recruited by an FSB officer and was put on standby.
After the release, the asset went to Ukraine-controlled territory and settled with his partner in Bilozersk, Pokrovsk district.
In late 2024, he was remotely contacted by his russian handler and was instructed to spy on the Defense Forces.
To collect information, the traitor walked in the frontline area and covertly observed the locations of Ukrainian troops.
After such reconnaissance sorties, the agent returned home to send an intelligence report to the FSB via an anonymous chat in a messenger app.
The SSU identified the perpetrator at an early stage and detained him at his home. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces.
During the search, the SSU found a mobile phone and special devices that he used to communicate with the FSB.
SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The countersabotage operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
