SSU detains russian agent whom FSB sent to Ukraine to gather intelligence near Kramatorsk
In the course of a counter-sabotage operation in the front-line areas of eastern Ukraine, the SSU detained two russian agents.
One of them is a russian citizen, who just 5 years ago did his military service in Kostroma, russia. The FSB deployed him to Ukraine to pose as a civilian in Donetsk region and carry out intelligence and subversive activities.
The SSU exposed him in Druzhkivka.
He actively spread pro-kremlin calls to support aggression against Ukraine in social networks.
The investigation established that he had been recruited by the FSB officer, who is currently with the russian occupying forces. Following his instruction, the agent arrived in Ukraine before the start of the full-scale invasion to gather intelligence near Kramatorsk.
He transmitted the collected information to his supervisor through an anonymous Telegram channel, adding photos of military and civilian facilities.
Another enemy agent was exposed by the SSU Counterintelligence in Bilytske town, Donetsk region. He ‘reported’ to the occupiers on the routes used by Ukrainian military equipment near the front line.
This agent handed over the data through a ‘liaison’ - a militant of the terrorist organization DNR. To communicate, they used a closed group in the russian social network Odnoklasniki.
In both cases, the occupiers used the information received from the agents for massive missile and artillery strikes and planning acts of sabotage near the front line.
Both detainees have been notified of suspicion of committing crimes; the court has decided to keep them in custody.
Operations to expose enemy agents were carried out by the SSU Counterintelligence and Military Counterintelligence Departments together with the SSU Offices in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
