SSU detains enemy agent who guided russia’s May 24 attack on Kyiv (video)
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained an enemy agent who was coordinating one of the largest russian airstrikes on Kyiv on the night of May 24 this year.
The spotter was detained the day after the bloody attack on the capital, while he was conducting reconnaissance near a Ministry of Defence facility and assessing the consequences of the strikes.
The agent planned to transmit the collected data in real time to his handler in russia to prepare new strikes and adjust follow-up attacks on the city.
As the investigation established, the enemy’s orders were carried out by an 18-year-old Kyiv resident who came to the attention of the russian intelligence while seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.
After the recruitment, the agent travelled to the suburbs of the capital, where he marked on Google Maps the transport corridors used to move Ukrainian Armed Forces military equipment.
This was a test assignment, after which the asset was instructed to document the aftermath of a combined attack on Kyiv and report to the russians.
The SSU documented how he arrived at one of the Ministry of Defence facilities to assess its external condition following a nighttime strike.
At the scene, a smartphone containing prepared intelligence reports with a detailed description of the aftermath was seized from the detainee.
Security Service investigators notified him of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
