SSU detains russian agent who adjusted missile strikes on Lyman

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in the liberated Lyman, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another enemy accomplice.

The offender is a local resident who, after Lyman’s de-occupation, established contact with russian special services and offered them his assistance in the war against Ukraine.

On the aggressor’s instructions, he collected information on location and movements of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the area.

The traitor also provided the enemy with intelligence on location of critical infrastructure facilities, including energy generating enterprises. He was passing the data through his acquaintance who lives in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region and is connected to russian special services.

Ruscists used the information to carry out targeted missile attacks on the community.

After the strikes, the agent went to target areas to record the consequences of air raids and then ‘reported’ to the aggressor.

The SSU detained the spy on an attempt to pass intelligence through a messenger app.

During the search, the SSU seized his phone with evidence of reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion. Court chose custody without bail as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operational and investigative activities under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
