SSU detains russian agent who helped enemy prepare missile strike on Odesa energy facilities

As a result of a special operation in Odesa region, the SSU exposed another agent of the russian FSB.

The aggressor’s accomplice was collecting information on location of units of Ukrainian Defence Forces and critical infrastructure facilities in the oblast.

His primary objective was to identify combat positions of Ukraine’s air defence system.

The agent was also interested in exact locations of local energy facilities.

He stored the collected data on a flash drive and planned to pass it on to the russian special service.

The enemy informant expected to receive up to UAH 70,000 per month for performing the assignments.

In case of obtaining the intelligence, the invaders planned to use it to prepare and carry out a series of missile strikes on Ukrainian targets.

However, the SSU prevented these plans by timely exposing the spy, documenting his criminal activity and detaining him.

According to the investigation, the traitor is a local resident, recruited by the FSB after the full-scale invasion started.

The man came to the occupiers’ attention because of his pro-kremlin views, which he repeatedly expressed.

To gather intelligence, the agent drove to different districts of Odesa and its suburbs and took photos and videos of targets.

During the search, the SSU found the flash drive with proof of his subversive activities.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

Court chose custody as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The SSU Office in Odesa Region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
