SSU detains russian agent who collected information on AFU weapons in Kyiv region
As a result of a multi-stage special operation in Kyiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another FSB agent.
The offender is a resident of Bila Tserkva, who was recruited by an officer of the russian special service in December last year.
After providing written consent to cooperate with the enemy, the agent was given the operational name ‘Ten’ [shadow] and an assignment to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage activities against Ukraine.
On the FSB’s instructions, he drove around the area and covertly collected intelligence on location and movement of Ukrainian Defence Forces in the region.
The russian agent was primarily trying to identify command and control staffs and depots with artillery weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The informant also passed to the aggressor coordinates of local critical infrastructure facilities, including power generating enterprises.
Occupiers needed this intelligence to prepare a series of targeted missile strikes on the oblast.
The SSU Counterintelligence detained the enemy agent on his attempt to collect classified information on Ukrainian military bases.
According to the investigation, the traitor communicated with the FSB through a prearranged anonymous Telegram channel and sent the obtained data as georeferenced photos and videos.
The SSU established that the agent’s next task had been to set up an extensive intelligence network for greater ‘coverage’ of the region.
During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU seized mobile phones with evidence of communication with the aggressor. The detainee also had a russian passport and pro-kremlin symbols.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).
Court is to choose a measure of restraint for the suspect.
The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the special operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
