SSU detains russian agent who scouted positions of Ukrainian Air Defence in Cherkasy region

As a result of a special operation in Cherkasy region, the SSU Counterintelligence exposed another FSB agent.

The offender is an employee of a medical institution, recruited by the FSB at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

On the instructions of his handler, the man purposefully drove around the territory of the region and collected information on bases and movement of the Defence Forces.

The enemy agent tried to identify combat positions of the air defence system and locations of training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The informant passed to occupiers coordinates of Ukrainian checkpoints and administrative buildings of law enforcement agencies in Cherkasy.

The agent also provided the FSB with intelligence on locations of critical infrastructure facilities in the region, including power generating enterprises.

The enemy needed such information to prepare a series of missile strikes on the oblast.

The SSU detained the offender on his attempt to pass classified information on Ukrainian facilities to the aggressor.

According to the investigation, the traitor passed intelligence to his russian handler through an anonymous Telegram channel in the form of marks on electronic maps and photos.

During the search at the suspect’s home, the SSU seized a mobile phone and a tablet with evidence of communication with the enemy special service.

The suspect also had a passport of the former USSR and pro-kremlin symbols.

SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under the Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).

Court chose custody without bail as a measure of restraint for the suspect.

The SSU Office in Cherkasy region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
