SSU detains enemy agent who recruited minor to spy together in southern Ukraine

The SSU has apprehended two enemy agents who adjusted russia’s missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s southern regions.

One of them is a 20-year-old resident of Odesa oblast. The occupiers recruited him remotely on a Telegram channel where he was looking for ‘easy money’.

The agent was then given a task to collect geolocations of Ukrainian checkpoints, mobile firing groups and air defence systems.

To spy on more targets simultaneously, the traitor involved his friend, a 15-year-old resident of Voznesensk, Mykolaiv region, in the sabotage activities.

The perpetrators were walking and looking for targets in both southern regions, covertly recording the locations of the Defence Forces on their phones.

After the reconnaissance sorties, the senior agent marked the coordinates of potential targets on Google maps and sent them to the russian handler via a messenger app.

The SSU documented this and detained the suspect from Odesa region on an attempt to pass intelligence to the invaders.

At the scene, the investigators seized his mobile phone, which he used to communicate with the russian intelligence.

The SSU served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The decision to qualify his crimes under Article 304 of the CCU (involvement of minors in criminal activity) is pending.

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Procedural actions regarding his minor accomplice from Mykolaiv region are ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Odesa region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
