SSU detains enemy informant who intended to disrupt AFU’s 3rd Assault Brigade’s counterattacks near Bakhmut
As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in the frontline areas of Donetsk region, the SSU exposed another collaborator.
The traitor provided the FSB with information on locations and movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine units involved in counteroffensive operations near Bakhmut.
The enemy was particularly interested in coordinates of combat positions and movement routes of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the AFU.
The spy also passed to the aggressor locations of fuel and lubricant depots, number and strength of the Defence Forces convoys passing through Ukrainian checkpoints.
The informant transmitted the data to the russian special service under an assumed name using a messenger app, regularly deleting his texting.
The occupiers needed the intelligence to plan their steps to deter AFU’s counterattacks on the eastern front, including through targeted artillery strikes.
The SSU detained the enemy accomplice ‘red-handed’ when he was trying to transmit information to the invaders.
According to the investigation, the spy is a resident of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk oblast, recruited remotely by russian intelligence in early June 2023.
He came to the aggressor’s attention through repeated anti-Ukrainian comments under fake news on pro-kremlin Telegram channels.
SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion of collaboration (Article 111-1.7 of the CCU).
The suspect is in custody, facing up to 15 years in prison.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
