SSU detains enemy informant who adjusted russian guided bombs strikes on Kharkiv

The Security Service of Ukraine has foiled a new attempt by ruscists to collect up-to-date data on Kharkiv’s defense. An enemy informant who spied on the Armed Forces of Ukraine was detained as a result of the operation.

The perpetrator is a 49-year-old part-time employee of a local publishing house, whom the occupiers recruited through Telegram channels.

On russia’s instructions, the agent drove around the northern outskirts of the frontline city, where he tried to identify reserve command posts of Ukrainian troops.

Most of his reconnaissance sorties took place under the guise of business trips, and upon returning home he summarized the collected data for a ‘report’ to his russian handler.

Using the coordinates provided by the asset, the aggressor planned to prepare new air strikes on the city using guided bombs.

After documenting the traitor’s crimes, SSU detained him at his home. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces.

The investigation also found that he had additionally recorded the addresses of energy facilities, including modular boiler houses.

During the search of the suspect’s apartment, the SSU found a phone with a messenger app, through which he sent the occupiers the geolocations of potential targets in the form of marks on Google maps.

SSU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement or location of the AFU, if it is possible to identify them on the ground).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
