SSU detains russian informant who collected intelligence for missile attacks and sabotage acts near border (video)

In a multi-stage special operation, the SSU has detained another enemy agent who was collecting intelligence on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and geolocation of critical infrastructure in Chernihiv region.

He passed the collected data to his accomplice in the Middle East. The latter was recently detained by the SSU Counterintelligence in Chernivtsi region, where he arrived to prepare a series of explosions at Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian railway] facilities.

It was established that both men were part of an agent network of russian special services, which was created to carry out subversive activities in western Ukraine.

After the arrest of his ‘liaison’, the informant received a new task - to scout the location of Ukrainian troops and strategic facilities near the border with russia.

The enemy planned to use these data for missile strikes and preparation of sabotage acts in the de-occupied areas.

The detained informant has been notified of suspicion under Article 258-3.1 of the CCU (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization). The court has chosen detention as a measure of restraint.

A pre-trial investigation is underway to identify and bring to justice other persons involved in crimes against Ukraine.

The special operation to expose enemy agents was carried out by the SSU Counterintelligence and investigators in Chernivtsi region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
