In Kharkiv, the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another informant who was spying on the city’s defenders. The perpetrator was tracking the deployment locations of Ukrainian military personnel for russia, based on which the aggressor was preparing missile and bomb strikes.

The investigation revealed that the spotter is a Kharkiv resident; he had come to the attention of the russian intelligence on Telegram channels offering ‘easy’ money.

The agent walked in the regional centre to identify, film on his mobile phone and pass on to the enemy the coordinates of the Defence Forces’ bases.

The priority targets were backup command posts and shelters for Ukrainian troops in Kharkiv.

SSU cyber teams and investigators documented how the informant was spying near the temporary locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units involved in frontline combat.

After documenting the suspect’s sabotage activities, the SSU detained him at his home.

During the searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the enemy was found in his possession.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised disclosure of information regarding the movement or deployment of the AFU units, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years’ imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the offence and to determine whether the suspect’s illegal actions may be subject to additional charges.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Kharkiv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
