SSU detains informant who leaked air defence locations near Ukrainian airfields to enemy
The SSU Military Counterintelligence, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, has detained another enemy informant in Mykolaiv region. He turned out to be a 21-year-old serviceman of an air defence unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who was recruited by the occupiers.
The investigation established that the perpetrator provided information to russia on the air defence system near Ukrainian operational airfields.
The Security Service documented that during an air raid alert, the traitor, while on duty, recorded a monitor with secret software on his phone camera.
He also passed data on the flight directions of the AFU aircraft and combat positions of Ukrainian air defence units to the enemy.
Using this intelligence, the russians hoped to strike the airfields of the Defence Forces evading our radars and mobile firing groups.
However, the SSU acted preemptively and detained the informant immediately after his first communication with the occupiers. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the positions of Ukrainian troops.
The serviceman came to the attention of russian intelligence services when he wrote pro-kremlin comments on Telegram.
A smartphone with evidence of his work for the aggressor state was seized from him during the search.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 114-2.3 (unauthorised dissemination of information on dispatching, movement of weapons, or movement, transfer, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law);
- 361-2.1 (unauthorised sale or distribution of restricted information stored in electronic computers, automated systems, computer networks, or on media containing such information).
The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Mykolaiv Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region.
