SSU exposes russian mole in Ukraine’s Armed Forces on collecting information on Western weapons and ‘hunting’ for air defence systems (video)

As a result of a multi-stage special operation in the frontline areas, the SSU Military Counterintelligence and investigators have detained another traitor.

The enemy spy is a resident of Bakhmut, recruited by an officer of the 72nd intelligence centre of russia’s GRU (main directorate of the general staff of russian armed forces) Nikita Klimovsky before the start of the full-scale invasion.

After February 24, 2022, the russian handler gave his agent his first assignment - to inform the aggressor on consequences of air strikes on Bakhmut.

The invaders were also interested in precise coordinates of bridge crossings in the city and its suburbs.

Later, the GRU instructed the traitor to arrive in Dnipropetrovsk region and enroll to the Defence Forces.

After joining a military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy agent collected data on the number of personnel and weapons available in the units.

He passed information to the aggressor on possible visits to the garrison by representatives of the AFU’s high command.

The SSU is now verifying if the traitor is involved in preparing sabotage against officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The agent also tried to identify locations of Ukrainian air defence systems and latest Western weapons.

However, the SSU Military Counterintelligence and investigators worked proactively – the spy’s criminal actions were documented, and he was detained on an attempt to pass information to the russian military intelligence.

The enemy accomplice used Telegram messenger for communication with the GRU.

During the search, the SSU found two mobile phones, one of which he used only for contacting his russian handler.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

The suspect is currently in custody, facing life imprisonment. The investigation is underway.

The special operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
