SSU detains mole in National Guard assault brigade

The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Minister of Internal Affairs and the National Guard command, detained another agent of russia’s federal security service in Kharkiv.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a 42-year-old local mobilized soldier who served in an assault brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.

The agent adjusted russian air strikes on the locations of his own unit.

While serving as a platoon commander, he passed to the occupiers the coordinates of staffs, training centers and reserve points of the military unit where he served.

The enemy asset was also supposed to pass to his handler lists of brigade officers and the information on the strength of the brigade from company to battalion.

After passing on the intelligence, the FSB promised the agent that it would organize his extraction to russia across the front line on Kharkiv direction.

The SSU exposed the mole at an early stage and detained him.

While documenting his crimes, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defense Forces.

A phone with evidence of his work for the FSB was seized from the detainee at the scene.

According to the investigation, the traitor approached the russian special services on his own initiative through his relatives, former russian military personnel living in russia.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was conducted under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
