SSU detains enemy mole preparing attack on Sea Baby and Magura naval drones

The SSU Military Counterintelligence, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Commander of the AFU Naval Forces, thwarted a russian air strike on Ukrainian units operating marine drones.

As a result of the special operation, a serviceman of the Ukrainian Navy’s brigade of unmanned special-purpose systems – an enemy informant – has been detained.

As the investigation established, the traitor was supposed to pass to the aggressor state:

  • geolocation of bases of military personnel who operate naval drones;
  • coordinates of storage locations of unmanned boats and their routes.

Among russia’s main targets were the legendary maritime drones of the Security Service and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Sea Baby and Magura.

The SSU acted preemptively: the agent was identified at an early stage, his crimes were documented, and the mole was detained when preparing coordinates for a russian missile attack. Simultaneously, action was taken to protect the locations of the Defence Forces.

The serviceman came to the attention of the russian intelligence through his acquaintances, to whom he told the details of his work.

The occupiers used one of these friends as a ‘liaison’ to obtain classified information on Ukrainian defenders.

A smartphone, on which he stored secret data and through which he contacted the ‘liaison’, was seized during the search.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised dissemination of information on the location of the AFU or lawful military formations, committed under martial law).

The decision on the additional classification of his criminal actions is pending. The suspect is in custody. The investigation is ongoing to bring all those responsible to justice.
