SBU detains Russian crime boss (video)

The SBU established whereabouts and detained Russian crime lord, a.k.a. Roma Popenok. The criminal tried to spread the influence of Russian crime in Ukraine.

According to intelligence, the wanted person held a high position in Russian mafia and controlled Ulyanovsk region.

The man was hiding in Ukraine from criminal liability for participation in a criminal organization. To enter Ukraine, he used forged documents issued in someone else's name.

SBU officers detained the criminal in Kremenets city, Ternopil region.
The detainee was transferred to the National Police in accordance with the legal procedure.

The issue of applying extradition arrest to the detainee is currently being resolved. Possible involvement of a foreigner in the commission of felonies on the territory of Ukraine is being checked.
