SSU detains enemy spy preparing terrorist attacks near defense agencies in downtown Kyiv (video)

In Kyiv, the SSU cyber units have detained another agent of russia’s federal security service. He is a 47-year-old russian citizen, who worked as a sound engineer at a well-known radio station in Ukraine and simultaneously performed tasks for the russian special service.

The occupiers used him to prepare a series of terrorist attacks in the center of Kyiv. To find potential targets, the asset spied on car parks near administrative buildings of the Defense Forces.

In between recording radio broadcasts, the russian walked the central streets of the capital and covertly photographed SUVs that he believed to be vehicles of Ukrainian servicemen.

The perpetrator took photos covertly, pretending to talk on the phone, holding it to his ear.

After collecting the information, the spy prepared a ‘report’ for his handler, with whom he communicated via a messenger app.

The FSB planned to blow up the ‘identified’ cars by planting and remotely activating improvised explosive devices.

The SSU uncovered these intentions at an early stage and apprehended the agent when he was conducting additional reconnaissance near one of Ukraine’s defense agencies.

A mobile phone used by him to contact the FSB and take covert photos was seized during searches.

According to the investigation, the russian has been living in Kyiv for over 10 years, working in various media groups, including those close to banned pro-kremlin parties.

At the end of 2024, he was remotely contacted by an FSB handler, already identified by the SSU, who recruited him and began to give him instructions.

SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement or location of the AFU, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
