SSU detains enemy agent who spied on Ukrainian combat aircraft near Kryvyi Rih

The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another member of the FSB’s agent network, dismantled earlier this year.

Back then, five russian agents were detained in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. Among them were an engineer from a defence plant and a city council official from Donetsk region who were collecting intelligence on Ukrainian troops in the areas close to the front.

The sixth suspect has been detained now. The woman was trying to identify military airfields and Ukrainian air defence sites near Kryvyi Rih.

She was also tracking flight directions of Ukrainian combat aircraft.

In case of spotting the ‘targets’, the asset was supposed to record their geolocations on electronic maps and ‘report’ to the FSB.

The enemy planned to use the obtained intelligence to prepare air strikes using missiles and Shahed-type kamikaze drones.

However, the SSU timely identified the agent, documented the crime and detained her.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a local resident and an ideological supporter of ruscism. In October 2023, she came to the FSB’s attention through her friend, another member of the enemy group, now in custody.

The traitor walked to target areas to monitor the AFU combat aircraft and air defence systems. She also tried to identify and covertly record military infrastructure.

Communication with the FSB handler was carried out through a messenger app. The ‘supervisor’ has been identified by the SSU.

During the searches of the suspect’s home, the SSU seized a mobile phone with evidence of the crime.

SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
