SSU detains russian agent who spied on AFU pontoon bridges across rivers in Donetsk region
The SSU Counterintelligence has thwarted another attempt by russia to collect intelligence on the Defense Forces in Donetsk region.
As a result of a special operation in Sloviansk, a russian agent was detained who was collecting intelligence on the deployment of AFU units towards the front line.
The spy was trying to establish pontoon bridges and locations where they are used to transport heavy weapons across local rivers.
The occupiers needed such information to plan ground combat operations and prepare air strikes on the places where the AFU personnel and military equipment were concentrated.
However, the SSU uncovered the aggressor’s plans at an early stage of agent’s unlawful activity. Action was taken to protect the positions of Ukrainian troops.
The SSU documented the defendant’s activity and identified her handler from the military intelligence of the russian federation. He gave her tasks and paid for their fulfillment.
At the final stage of the special operation, the enemy agent was detained in her home.
The detainee was seized of cell phones, on which she regularly changed accounts for covert communication with the occupiers.
According to the investigation, the traitor is a 25-year-old local resident, an ideological supporter of ruscism.
During the occupation of the village of Yampil, the invaders remotely recruited a woman through her friends.
For a long time, she was a sleeper agent, but in the spring of this year, the traitor was activated for reconnaissance and subversive activities in the frontline region.
To spy, the woman went around the area and tried to elicit the necessary information from acquaintances.
During the searches, the SSU seized bank cards on which she received monetary rewards from the occupiers.
SSU investigators served her a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody facing life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Vinnytsia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Vinnytsia Region Prosecutor’s Office.
