SSU detains russian informer ‘leaking’ information on Ukrainian artillery positions near Bakhmut to Telegram channels

The SSU Counterintelligence exposed another informer of russian special services near the frontline in Donetsk region. The offender was collecting intelligence on the deployment and movement of Ukrainian troops involved in counter-offensive operations in the area of Bakhmut.

She tried to establish the coordinates of the firing positions of the AFU’s cannon and rocket artillery, including HIMARS artillery systems.

The spy was also interested in the flight directions of combat aircraft and the routes of heavy armored vehicles of Ukrainian defenders.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice conducted scouting near the town of Kostiantynivka, where she lived.

The offender monitored the movement of the Ukrainian military equipment, as well as collected intelligence from friends during private conversations.

The traitor ‘leaked’ the information to four Telegram channels created by russian special services to record the locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

SSU officers documented the criminal actions of the suspect and detained her at home. The detainee was seized of a mobile phone, used to pass intelligence to the aggressor.

According to the findings, the woman subscribed to hostile Internet resources at the beginning of this year and posted georeferenced data on the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 114-2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement, relocation, or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed under martial law).

The offender is currently in custody facing up to 8 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
