SSU detains another two GRU agents who helped enemy shell Kramatorsk and Sloviansk
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained two agents of russian military intelligence (‘the GRU’) who adjusted combined attacks by russian forces on Donetsk oblast.
To obtain coordinates for the strikes, the occupiers recruited local residents who called for a complete occupation of the region on Telegram channels.
After recruitment, the agents spied individually in the frontline areas, reporting to their handlers in anonymous chat rooms.
One of them is a 49-year-old resident of Sloviansk, who guided russian air bombs and artillery at the locations of Ukrainian troops.
Before going on a mission, the agent would put on tactical uniform and pretend to be a soldier of the Defence Forces.
Another perpetrator is a 66-year-old resident of Kramatorsk, who was recruited by russian special services through his acquaintance, a militant of russian military groupings on the eastern front.
Through this ‘liaison,’ the agent passed on the geolocation of checkpoints and the routes of Ukrainian mobile air defense groups to the occupiers.
The SSU identified both traitors and took action to protect the positions of the Defence Forces.
After documenting the agents’ actions, each of them was detained.
SSU investigators notified them of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 114-2.3 (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement or location of the AFU, committed under martial law).
The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operations were carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
