SSU detains another enemy informant who guided russian missiles and drones at targets in Dnipro
The SSU Counterintelligence has foiled the aggressor’s new attempts to obtain intelligence on the Defence Forces in Dnipro.
As a result of a special operation in Dnipro, the SSU detained an informant working for russia.
The perpetrator was trying to identify firing positions of Ukrainian air defence systems.
He was also tracking the movement of Ukrainian troops.
The informant transmitted the collected data to a well-known blogger of putin’s united russia party, living in russia.
After receiving the information, the pro-kremlin propagandist posted it on the Internet, on social media pages controlled by the russian intelligence. The enemy used the data to prepare missile and drone strikes on Dnipro.
The SSU identified the traitor at an early stage of his sabotage activities. Action was taken to protect the Defence Forces. The informant’s activity was documented, his russian ‘contact’ – identified.
At the final stage of the operation, the SSU detained the suspect.
According to the investigation, he is an IT specialist and an ideological supporter of ruscism. In the summer of 2023, he began publishing posts in support of the kremlin regime on the banned social network Vkontakte.
This brought him to the attention of a ruscist blogger, who offered him to work for russia.
To collect intelligence, the man travelled around the city in minibuses and covertly took pictures of the places where Ukrainian troops were likely to be or pass.
During the searches, the SSU seized computer equipment and a mobile phone with evidence of the crime. Investigators also established that funds had been transferred to the suspect’s cryptocurrency wallet from russia.
The SSU has served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on transfer, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
