SSU detains enemy informant who adjusted russian missile strikes on Kharkiv

The SSU’s cyber units have apprehended another informant of russian intelligence services who adjusted russian air strikes on Kharkiv’s critical infrastructure.

Among the enemy’s targets were strategic enterprises, including those in the defence industry.

To increase the effectiveness of their attacks, the occupiers hoped their accomplice would identify geolocations of Ukrainian air defence systems.

If they had such data, the invaders planned to attack these air defence systems.

To gather intelligence, the agent would find the sites hit by the enemy and take covert photos and videos of them.

Then, he sent the information to several chats of pro-kremlin Telegram channels controlled by the russian intelligence.

The SSU documented the perpetrator’s criminal actions and detained him ‘red-handed’ when was carrying out one of the enemy assignments.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a 58-year-old local resident, an ideological supporter of ruscism. In the autumn of 2023, the man began, on his own initiative, to collect intelligence and pass it to the occupiers through messenger apps.

He also published posts on social media, trying to discredit Ukrainian defenders.

During the searches of the suspect’s home, the SSU seized a mobile phone with evidence of the crime.

The detainee has been notified of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on the AFU’s deployment).

The court has chosen custody without bail as a measure of restraint. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kyiv District Prosecutor’s Office in Kharkiv.
