SSU detains another FSB spotter who guided russian strikes at Kharkiv region
The SSU Counterintelligence has detained another agent of russia’s federal security service in the Kharkiv region. The perpetrator adjusted russian missile, bomb and drone attacks on the region’s frontline areas.
The investigation revealed that the agent travelled on foot or by public transport to identify Defence Forces bases for targeting by the enemy in airstrikes.
Upon completing his tasks, the FSB promised him extraction to the aggressor state.
However, the SSU Counterintelligence acted pre-emptively and detained the agent while he was preparing a final report for the russian service with the coordinates of potential targets.
The enemy accomplice turned out to be a local handyman who was recruited by the FSB. He came to their attention when he posted pro-kremlin comments in Telegram chat rooms.
After the recruitment, the asset received instructions from a handler in russia on methods of intelligence gathering and secrecy, particularly in communications. The SSU Counterintelligence has already established the handler’s identity.
A smartphone containing evidence of intelligence and subversive activities on russia’s behalf was seized during the search of his home.
SSU investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Kharkiv Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
