SSU detains spotter guiding russian strikes at Poltava region

The SSU Military Counterintelligence has exposed another enemy informant in Poltava. The perpetrator tracked the coordinates of the Defence Forces for the ruscists, who planned to use them for missile and drone attacks.

The informant turned out to be a local unemployed man. He had come to the attention of the russian intelligence while seeking ‘easy money’ on Telegram.

In exchange for the promise of quick payments, the suspect began driving around the regional centre and its outskirts in a taxi, trying to identify Ukrainian military bases and marking their locations on Google Maps.

The aggressor state was particularly interested in the locations of Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems and radars.

It has also been documented that the agent photographed administrative buildings and the car parks of local National Police units.

Once he had identified potential targets, he immediately informed the russian intelligence about the deployment sites of the Defence Forces by sending photo and video files with electronic coordinates.

The SSU uncovered the informant’s reconnaissance activities at an early stage, documented them and protected the locations of Ukrainian defenders.

As a final step, the SSU Military Counterintelligence detained the enemy spotter.

A phone containing ‘reports’ for the aggressor state was seized from him during searches. Forensic examinations conducted by the SSU confirmed the suspect’s crimes.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorised disclosure of information on the movement or location of the AFU, committed under martial law).

The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Poltava Office under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
