SSU detains another russian spotter targeting Kyiv and central Ukraine
SSU cybersecurity experts and investigators have detained another FSB agent. The perpetrator was gathering coordinates for a new series of russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Cherkasy regions.
Among the enemy’s main ‘targets’ was the energy infrastructure, specifically key power substations that supply most of both regions.
Additionally, the suspect attempted to identify and transmit the geolocations of logistics warehouses and combat positions of Ukrainian air defense to the FSB.
SSU officers preemptively exposed the agent, documented his crimes, and detained him at his residence in Kyiv region.
According to the investigation, the enemy fire was directed by a local employee of a regional agricultural company recruited by the invaders. He came to the attention of the russian intelligence service while searching for 'easy money' on Telegram channels.
The investigation established that while visiting relatives in Cherkasy region, the suspect identified potential 'targets' and marked their locations on Google Maps to pass them to the FSB.
During searches of the suspect’s home, a smartphone was seized containing evidence of his correspondence with an FSB handler.
Investigators of the SSU Main Investigation Directorate have served the agent with a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The perpetrator is currently in custody without bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by officers of the SSU Main Office in Kyiv and Kyiv Region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
