SSU detains another ‘mole’ in AFU who guided russian missiles at Defence Forces in Donetsk region
The SSU Military Counterintelligence has detained another FSB informant who adjusted russian missile and drone strikes in Donetsk oblast.
The perpetrator is a contract serviceman of one of the combat brigades of the Defence Forces deployed in the eastern region.
He passed the coordinates of Ukrainian firing positions and military fortifications to the russian intelligence.
The enemy was interested in the geolocations of the large concentrations of the AFU personnel and heavy weapons, including tanks and cannon artillery.
To hide his criminal actions, the mole worked for the FSB through his father, who had left for russia in August 2023.
To move to there, as a man with many children, he crossed the border with the EU and from there went to the aggressor state.
In russia, he established contact with a propagandist and former FSB officer Sergey Karnaukhov.
It was to him that the mole’s father passed the data on the Defence Forces that he received from his son.
Karnaukhov provided the information to the FSB.
The SSU established that the invaders had used the intelligence to prepare targeted air attacks on Ukrainian troops.
During the search of the suspect’s home, the SSU found a mobile phone which he used to record the coordinates and weapons of the Defence Forces and send ‘reports’ to the FSB.
SSU investigators have now served the enemy accomplice a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU, committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
In addition, the decision is pending regarding serving a notice of suspicion in absentia to the detainee’s father and bringing him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office in the Eastern Region.
