SSU detains another mole in Ukraine’s Armed Forces who spied on Ukrainian combat aircraft and MaxxPro fighting vehicles
As a result of a special operation in Zhytomyr region, the SSU Military Counterintelligence exposed another russian mole in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The spy collected intelligence on technical condition of Ukrainian airfields and their use by Ukrainian combat aircraft.
He also provided the aggressor with information on locations of the Defence Forces’ ammunition and fuel depots.
Among other things, the agent of the russian FSB tried to identify bases and track the movements of MaxxPro armoured fighting vehicles.
The SSU detained the enemy accomplice when he was conducting reconnaissance of Ukrainian targets.
According to the investigation, the spy is a local who joined the AFU and was serving in one of the garrisons in northern Ukraine.
In early May 2023, the serviceman was recruited remotely by an FSB officer.
To carry out the FSB’s instructions, the agent drove to different districts of Zhytomyr oblast and covertly surveilled military facilities. The enemy asset also tried to use his acquaintances, expecting them to unwittingly provide some information.
Telegram messenger was used for communication with the FSB.
During the searches, the SSU seized a mobile phone with evidence of the crime.
SSU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU - high treason committed under martial law.
The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
