SSU detains member of FSB spy duo that guided enemy strikes on Kharkiv

In the Kharkiv region, the SSU Counterintelligence has apprehended another agent of russia’s federal security service. He turned out to be a local resident recruited by russia – the husband of an enemy informant whom the SSU exposed in January of this year for guiding russian airstrikes.

According to the investigation, the FSB first took notice of the suspect’s wife, who transmitted the locations of the Defence Forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region to an FSB Telegram bot.

Subsequently, her husband was recruited to cooperate. He gathered data on the bases and movement routes of Kharkiv defenders.

To track the locations of Ukrainian troops, the agent travelled around the area by public transport and photographed the sites where Defence Forces personnel and equipment were concentrated.

To maintain the secrecy, the man also used an acquaintance without her knowledge, who sometimes drove him around the city and surrounding areas in her car.

In addition to photographing potential ‘targets’, the perpetrator marked their geolocations on Google Maps and then passed the information to the enemy.

After the data reached the FSB handler via an anonymous account on a messaging app, the asset received a new assignment.

The SSU documented the traitor’s crimes and detained him.

A smartphone and laptop containing evidence of his work for the enemy were seized during the search.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of his status as a suspect under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason, committed under martial law).

The suspect is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
